Description: This painting is part of my ongoing "Lounge" series, featuring the female figure in repose. I have retained the basic elements of my figurative style in this series: flat planes of color, neutral figures, and sharp contrast, and have added interesting elements to the figure's setting. The couch is a central element of the series, appearing in varying colors. Two-tone block shading of the flesh creates a sense of depth and contour. The subtle shades of deep brown hair and sofly colored cheeks and lips add color and life to my previously neutral palette, as do the tones of blue. These pieces are bold and modern, yet classic.
