This plien air painting is of a sunlit stream that flows through the Stokes State Forest in Sussex County, Northwest NJ. It is named after the actual name of the stream. I had been walking the trails of the forest in the spring of 2007 when I discovered this serene area with vivid crimson flowers and huge water plants and felt compelled to paint the view. With the deep green background of a woodsy hill leading down to the natural garden of flowers and plants to the golden sunlight reflections on the lazy flowing water, I knew this would be a nice painting. The monarch butterfly and the bird invited themselves to the stream, so I tried to capture them timelessly also on canvas. This painting was a true pleasure to create.
