Description: "Violet Haze" is an encaustic (pigment and wax) on archival, acid free, 300 pound watercolor paper.
The image is that of seated female (a favorite model) with color domination in ocher and violet hues.
The cushion ushers the viewer into the figure, and the leg line moves you toward the face and back again.
The mounting is free floated revealing the deckled edge of the paper measuring 23" x 17 1/4" and is mounted on an acid free board of a soft gray smoke coloration. The piece is then double matted with an outside mat of soft stone (color core) and an inside mat of soft gray. The mat measurement is 4 3/8" top and sides with a bottom mat of 5 1/8". The bottom mat should always be larger for visual weight. The double mat is built up so that the image "Violet Haze" set deep into the mat and frame and not against the glass.
The overall mat size is 33" x 27".
This will be even larger framed - great statement piece.

"Violet Haze" comes matted, but not framed. I also stitch quite often into my work and this has a few french knots that also hold the 300lb paper unto the archival backing board.
