The models for this painting are actual burlesque performers who pose for artists at several venues in the Los Angeles area. The central figure was painted in one 3 hour painting session and the background characters were added later in my home studio, based on some quick pencil sketches I had made at an earlier drawing workshop.
When I painted the central figure, an amazingly statuesque and voluptuous girl, I was struck by the very impassive, blase expression on her face. I thought it would be an interesting contrast to add the gifts of red roses, the heart-shaped box of chocolates and a love note from yet another of her many admirers...
This painting measures a generous 24" x 24' on a gallery wrapped canvas with the edges painted black. It can be displayed without a frame.
