description: "Gentle Realm" reveals my love for the abstract and especially for the fish image. I have attached similar pieces to this which have sold to collectors.
This is a smaller meditative piece. It is an encaustic (wax and Pigment) on an archival acid free paper. The surface is quite textural and color domination is in the soft brown and blue/green gray family. I accented the piece with a single expressive stoke of a fish and two red square stamp markings which I often add to pieces, but they are not always in color.
I love to utilize form in shape in fine art, and also in my jewelry and in my pottery. I'll add one of my blown pots below for you to see. I will begin a journal shortly and write about how I do my work for those that are interested in Art 101 :).
"Gentle Realm" is matted in Camel Linen on the outside with a walnut mat on the inside. I prefer a 1/8" mat reveal, I think the 1/4" is too distracting.
The image through the opening in the mat is approximately 8 1/2" x 4 1/2"
The mat measures 3 3/4" top and sides with a bottom mat of 4 3/4". The frame is a brushed Bronze with an angled edge and a black inside edge against the painting. The front profile of the frame measures 1".
The overall size of "Gentle Realm" measures approximately 19" x 14 1/2".
