For the last few weeks I have been so inspired to paint. Inspiration like this is considered to me to be both a blessing and a curse as during these times I get very little sleep and am always pre occupied wanting to go to the studio. Everything else in my life suffers but I have also come to appreciate these times because it is when the most exciting work is created. As a lot of you know there are a set of symbols that I have recognized and put a label on. The way it happens is the symbol will appear over and over again painting after painting until it can not be denied and I must look at it and ask what does this mean? This rarely happens and in the 15 years or more that I have been creating art I have acknowledged about 12 of them. WELL A NEW ONE HAS APPEARED!!
The LADDER = dreams.
We all have dreams and usually these dreams require steps. You must start somewhere and take the first step and climb step after step until you reach your dream. It can be a rough journey to get to where you want to go and sometimes you fall or it all falls apart. This is what the ladder means to me and I wanted to share it with you."
This piece was created using many materials and heavily varnished for a beautiful gloss finish and protection from UV rays. Cristine hand builds all her canvas and generally very thick. This piece hangs 2.5" off the wall.
