Description: "The Song Lingers", this is an oil on stretched canvas.
I have a few of these left. I know longer exhibit these and they are kept quite hidden in my studio, I still love to view them from time to time. Possibly they will come out in a retrospective when I hit my 80's - oh, my!
The painting is that of a young boy crouched down with right hand to chin, contemplative and possibly the appearance that a tear might be coming.
The title "The Song Lingers" is the story. It is the passing of a pet ,no matter how small,..." may I wrap him close and keep him an hour longer, Mom, I will be gentle." Note the pet bird in the handkerchief (bandanna), a feather resting by the sneaker. In a young child's mind is burying an option or can we allow the song of the bird to linger for awhile longer?
The oil measures 34" x 30" and is not stapled on the side but on the back. The fame is not wrapped over the edge of the painting. The painting is mounted and has the appearance of floating so the frame does not cover the edges of the canvas.
A space of approximately 1/2" is between the gallery oak frame and the canvas edge. The profile of the oak frame measures 3/4" and the projection from the wall is 1 1/4". The overall frame size is 36 1/2 x 32 1/2". Most of us have been in this position ourselves, with a child or a grandchild.
