Description: I have loved to bicycle for many years. There is nothing quite like it. It feels so good pumping along. Free. Free. Free. The warm sun. The breeze. The trees. Sweating. Healthy. Sweet smells.
Meeting nice people. Getting all tension out of my system....
This piece captures the wonderful motion and feeling of the freedom of riding a bicycle--speeding along, coasting, fresh air, along a trail next to a creek and open space. Heart pumping. Flowing.
It is titled Purple Glow, because that is the way it FEELS--like you are glowing!
And I LOVE the color violet, so I am radiating the way violet makes me feel.
The application of paint is especially interesting. First the illustration board was textured and then black and copper paint was scraped over the texture with a palette knife. When it was exhibited everyone wanted to come up and touch the painting. Paint was also applied in many thin glazes and wiped off to get a feeling of motion and gesture.
This beautiful peice is framed in a simple black frame with a thin strip of antiqued gold nearest the painting. It comes ready to hang.
You'll be proud to tell your friends it won a best of show award in Denver in 2007.
(The black area on either side of the painting is not part of the painting.)
