Description: This painting was inspired by a visit to Door County, Wisconsin.
Two friends sharing their lives under an umbrella next to the lake. It captures the shared moment--the treasure of friendship and connection. What we all long for.
Time is forgotten. There is only the moment. An experience of the heart.
The shelter of friendship.
I was also excited by the rich blue color and round shape of the umbrella amidst the soft atmosphere and straight geometric shapes of the pier and horizon.
This painting was sketched with charcoal, and then layered with washes of watercolor and finally pastel. These layers of color and varied media create color that peeks through each other and helps each to sing and have depth. The surface and application has a lot of variety and interesting contrasts.
This painting comes matted and framed in a beautiful silvery/grayish frame and ready to hang.
