The Extinction of Color series consists of paints that concentrate around the fluidity of color and how the colors melt and mingle as if they are natural elements. A field of beautiful color is created then an area of white covers up the color. I see this as an extinction of the color that once lay within the space. I like to interrupt my newly created spaces with the white, blasted out area. One can view the white as a system as erasure or as a veil that masks the history or information. The white can also be seen as a ray of light or illumination.
This is a painting from the Extinction of Color series. The painting is painted with high quality acrylics on a gallery stretched canvas. The size is 72" x 48". This is a paintings contains beautiful, vibrant colors that melt and mingle together.
This painting is ready to hang. The edges of the canvas show history of splashes and speckles of paint. I believe the edges are just as important and interesting as the front of the canvas.
