Description: A unique vessel images and marks from minerals and iron wire abound.
SAGGER FIRING: In Traditional firing the usual use for saggers (typically covered containers of fired clay) was to protect clay pieces from the ash and other materials in a fuel fired kiln. Most contemporary users do the opposite. The clay is placed inside the sagger along with burnable materials and oxides in order to get marks and colors fired on to the clay. The sagger is then placed inside the kiln. The pots in this series are burnished and polished by hand, textured, wrapped with wired, string and other materials some soaked with oxides and salt before firing. There are no glazes applied; all the color comes from the firing procedure, minerals and a little help from the kiln god.
