This stunning trumeau mirror was created by sister artisan team Dustin Pearson and Brandi McKenna. The piece was designed and made with the greatest attention to detail and styled after the old 17th century trumeaus that are so sought after today by designer saccross the country, yet so hard to find with good paintings still intact.
This piece evokes the same feel as the genuine antiques, but Brandi and Dusti's works are one of a kind art pieces that have taken hours of labor to create.
The painting itself was done in oils by Brandi. It features an old ruin with architectural arches that frame the sky and distant landscape. A piece of garden statuary reaches for the morning sky above, but is trapped in the dappled shadows cast upon it by the tree overhead. Carefully hand crafted by wood artist Dustin Pearson, this frame is a work of art all unto itself. With it's detailed mouldings echoing the architectural arches found in the painting, Dusti has brought unity to the entire piece. Dustin has experience and expertise in the art of wood restoration, both with antique furniture and architecture. Here she has done the reverse, making the new appear centuries old. She has built this frame out of poplar and birchwood, added texture and layers of color giving this piece a rich and warm over all patina, it both feels and appears just as if it were centuries old.
Dustin has also gold leafed and hand carved the mouldings found on this piece and appplied the appropriate hardware for hanging on the back.
Dustin and Brandi's work have sold at Designer home shows, the New york Gift Show, and in retail venues in Charleston, S.C. and Charlotte, N.C. They are also available to consider custom orders.
