Green is Humming - Fish Dance -緑の声 鯉の踊る
Oil on Canvas Board
This was just a few paces from "Up and Down Castle Mountain" - painted on the same day. While I was painting the path and the waterfall there, there was a pair of people sitting here painting this picture themselves. They finished and left a few minutes before I did mine, and I moved to their spot straight after.
The light here was so strong, I had to continuously adjust my easel to get a good idea of the colors in different areas of the picture.
Everything always vibrates, but here I get the feeling that the leaves, grasses, and trees were all sharing in the same (quiet) song. The red bridge and shrine gate offset the energy in the green somewhat. There were people feeding swirls of fish from the shore for most of the time it took me to paint this. You can make out the outline of a distant mountain back behind the last row of trees. This picture has a slight to moderate amount of texture in the paint, and a little bit of shine to the surface. The red bits however are very shiny and look as if they've been glazed. You can fit it in a frame of your choosing, ...or just prop it up wherever you can. I buy the most light resistent/ fade resistant paints, so this should keep it's quality for a very long time to come, for as long as these things do.
This will ship flat in a large padded weather-proof envelope .
