Description: Each painting is an Original work of art and not a reproduction. Work will arrive rolled in a tube, ready to frame. Work is mixed media with acrylic on gesso'd canvas. Unique one-of-a-kind. Inspired from a poem I wrote (below), about why I am an artist. The poem came first, then the picture.
“Yesterday I was Van Gogh’s mistress. I was the line he drew in agony across her hip, And then I crawled inside his eye and was his capillary: In the cramped room, airless and vibrating, delighting, I traveled miles along the woman’s limb and hair, lost as day to night I was no longer suffering to breathe the breath of cloth, to inhale the air of skin, to feel the life of someone else, outside myself. Yesterday I escaped, I was the wall in the house of Van Gogh’s Arles and watched him countless hours, while neighbors left their homes to go to card games and met for lunch and gossiped over curious things, and while quite drawn to hear what they were singing, ringing in their sing song gossip ways, I stayed away because he drew in graceful lengths across the fields of his mistress’s hair and I could not resist to go there.”
