description: Glass Beach is an obscure spot behind a power plant on the southwest coast of Kauai Island, Hawaii. Years ago, trash and refuse was dumped off-shore near here. The various glass items were broken and ground by the ocean into small bits of rounded glass which have been deposited here. Anywhere from the size of a grain of sand to the size of your little fingernail, they come in various colors and shapes. Collected by locals after high tide, this "sand" is used in craft projects.
This picture of the west end of the beach area depicts the afternoon sun lowering through off and on rain clouds.
