| | | My art career began very early, I loved to copy pictures from children books and I sold my first caricature to my grandfathers friend at the age of 6, I was so proud. I loved to copy the religious scenes from illustrated bibles, and felt like a true artist in 1979 when priest chouse my portrait of Pope John Paul the second to be displayed in a church. It was my first small public success. Unfortunately, this success led to a disaster; when I was asked to draw a crucifixion scene by the same priest I miserably failed with the anatomy. Thank God this didn't discourage me and I started to paint in oils at the age of 14. I loved portraiture and made portraits of members of my family as well as copies of portraits done by other artists. I cannot even remember what artists they were. At that age, I was more interested in images than names. When I was 15 my parent moved to United States ant took me along. I was attending art classes in Chicago's Schurz High school. Three years later we moved to Canada where I completed Ontario Collage of art and got my Bachelor of Arts degree. During my university time I was lucky to spend one year studding in Florence, Italy. A few years later I returned to Italy to work there as illustrator, this time I was living in Rome. Currently I live in Canada where I pursue my art career, some of my work include decorating churches with religious images. | | | | Does art run in your family?
| | | Art definitely dos run in my family. It skips generations sometimes, as my father is a diesel engine designer. However, my grandfather was a great jeweler working in Krakow, Poland. I learned some basics of jewelry from him. | | | | What inspires your work?
| | | My greatest inspiration is Rembrandt, I love his paintings for theirtechnical ability and their unbelievable ability to touch a human soul. He goes way beyond technical ability to touch upon individual emotions and that is what I believe is what make a creation a piece of art. | | | | Are there other artists that made an impact on you or your work?
| | | There are of course other artist that I love: Goya, Watteau, Francis Bacon, Delacroix, Degas, Corot, Ingres, Antonio Lopez Garcia, Ralph Stedman, Petrus Christus, Sergant, Pontormo, Riepin, Bottero, Ian Froud ... Etc... | | |
