Born and raised in Brazil, Monica came to the United States in her senior year of Psychology studies to take English classes. Since then, she has never stopped embracing art in all forms.
She was the Art Director of Florida Review Newspaper for a term of over 8 years. Later she decided to pursue her artistic calling as a hobby, taking courses in Acrylic painting back in the 90s. Months later she was surprised to find herself working as a mural artist. After experiencing acclaim & satisfaction at the finished pieces, she was motivated to pursue her true passion as a career. She started attending art school at The Boca Museum of Art.
After spending 2 years traveling all over Europe, visiting museums, and taking incessant pictures, Monica started painting her own original works. She has recently completed several beautiful pieces using her knowledge and recollections gathered from her travels.
She is a very versatile artist who works with all media and a variety of subjects. Landscapes, flowers, beach scenes, and even abstracts are part of her repertoire of outstanding work. “I love combining different elements, textures, styles, and mediums in my artwork. I will use anything that will enable me to transfer onto my canvas, the images I have visualized in my mind. My aspiration is to bring wonderful feelings to all who see my artwork.”
Monica resides in Florida in the charming village of Wellington with their precious 11 year old son Daniel and her beloved husband Sal. She welcomes the future pursuing her passion for art.
Artist Statement:
Although I originally studied psychology I came to discover later in life that art is my TRUE passion. Life has been full of surprises and I have been blessed with so many opportunities. I’ve been taking them all in and as I look back on my journey I recognize that every single step I took was so important for me to be here, right now. I hope I can always be grateful and always keep my eyes open to the beauty that surrounds me every single minute of my life. I can’t stop being amazed at this place called earth; it takes me only a glance at the sky to realize how lucky we all are to live in such a beautiful world, we are so blessed! That’s all I try to do with my art – to give all I have in order to mimic the beauty I see in a flower, in a place, in a child… anywhere. I follow my heart and I don’t give up until I look at my painting and see my own feelings taking the form of the brushstrokes on my canvas.
