Toni Smith created her first painting entitled, the "Burning Saratoga" at age 3. Shortly after that she began studying classical ballet and found one more love. And with this, came the realization that art would have a profound and persistent effect upon her life.
At age 12 she was awarded the third place prize in the Centennial Journal Awards Art Contest of Westchester, New York. That accomplishment drove her to take art more seriously and upon entering Junior High School through College, The Ursuline School, New Rochelle, NY and Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT respectively, she studied most forms of creation within art and dance.
The beauty of the human form and the universal language of music speak to Toni. Her artwork is both influenced by nature and music. Her works pay homage to these elements with an interesting detail and romantic style. Her favorite categories are Figurative, Drawings, and Still Life. Her preferred mediums are Pastel, Graphite and Water Color.
