Christina Lawson, born 1981, grew up in the city of Tampa, Florida. Christina has been into art her entire life. Ever since she was a child she possessed this burning passion for art and its history. Christina has studied all forms of dance for over 14 years, and used this passion as her artistic outlet. Christina Lawson, born 1981, grew up in the city of Tampa, Florida. Christina has been into art her entire life. Ever since she was a child she possessed this burning passion for art and its history. Christina has studied all forms of dance for over 14 years, and used this passion as her artistic outlet. She is a self taught abstract artist, therefore feels as if she does not belong to the elite world of artists who have studied all forms of techniques for years. It was not until early 2007, when she began to paint. Christina needed a very large painting for her new home, and had very little money to buy one. After watching an interior designer make a canvas for a client’s home, did she realize she could do the same.

Since Christina does not have any formal training, she utilizes books to learn new techniques, and constantly works on improving herself as an artist. Christina starts with a blank canvas and does not finish until the painting is complete. Christina prefers to paint using acrylics, as it allows her to complete her painting that same day. Christina does have a full time 9-6 day job, and with the great amounts of stress she gets during the day, she finds painting to be a therapeutic release, as you can see in her martini series of paintings. When sitting to paint she finds the colors and let the colors and pigments speak to her. With the utilization of bold brush strokes she is able to create contemporary and modern paintings. A friend suggested she sell her art online and in local galleries, now Christina Lawson has art in private collections across the US.
