Hi! Let me tell you a little bit about my art. When I start a painting, I try to reach further than just the technical aspects such as line, color, and composition, although these things are important. Rather, I search for that invisible, innate thing that makes it magic. I consider what the subject is saying to me. What does it vibrate? Softness? Excitement? What does the air smell like -- lavender or salt water? The answers to these kinds of questions direct the soul of my painting. I am inspired by nature and my own back yard, which is surrounded by marshes and palm trees.
Let's talk. I am happy to discuss my work with you personally. I welcome commissions. If you see some paintings you love, but would like something similar in different color schemes, or if you just love my style and have something else in mind, just e-mail me and we can discuss what you'd like.
My Background:
As a child and young adult, I was greatly influenced by my mother, a fabulous watercolorist. I had a fondness for mother's entourage of astonishing friends; they were outrageous. I was fascinated by their total inability to be structured, their aptitude for the dramatic, and their uncanny ways of shifting the mundane into magic.
I majored in fine art and writing at Thomas Edison State College. I've freelanced and have worked on staff for several corporations as an illustrator, graphic artist, publication editor, and writer.
