Kirk Kennedy was born and raised in NY. While growing up on Long Island he had two artistic pursuits, painting and photography. Taking pictures started at an early age with an old Kodak Brownie camera. Being taught the rudiments of B&W film processing and printing by his father, Kirk spent many an hour in the darkroom in the basement of his home in East Islip.
Many years passed as an adult without having done much of either until the advent of digital photography and the digital darkroom. Now with new tools and the ability to combine elements of both techniques, Kirk is creating images from his photographs and artistic derivations of them that bring his vision of the world through his interpretation of light, color, and the simple things most people overlook in their pursuit of life.
Kirk resides in Maine where bicycle riding provides new and exciting views for future images.
Previous exhibits were at the Curtis Memorial Library, Thornton Oaks, Mae’s Café, and to his credit, the 2006 Bath/Brunswick Talking Phonebook cover art.
