My name is Alex Lavrov.
I was born in Ukraine in 1981.
When i was mature enough I began to attend Simferopol art school.
I left to Israel when I turned 16.
There I attended the private Art school of classical arts by Galina Telpis for several years.
I participated in different city exhibitions, and my works were exposed in city galleries.
After I spent 10 years in Israel I came to Canada and started here my new period of life.
Generally I work in two directions.
One of them (to this category i relate paintings like"the delight", "beauty and the beast", "perfume") I can describe in following.
I take piece of paper and sketch some ideas on it.
Then favourite ones I copy to canvas, adding more details during the process thus improving the idea itself.
Usually the work is done after at least two coats of paint.
The second way of creation is "full improvisation" as i name it (such works as "poultry yard" , "welcome home, sanity!" or "happy family" are in this group).
First of all I take clean canvas and start to paint whatever my hand wants to paint.
Usually it appears to be a complete chaos of colours and indistinguishable forms.
When I work on the second coat I extract forms from formless, like sculptor cuts in stone.
By the next coat I enrich the painting with more details and sharpen the forms.
I consider my art to be one of the ways of expressing the Subconscious.
