I was born in 1963 in Manchester, New Hampshire. I lived there all of my life until 2005 when I moved to Florida. I am a self-taught artist. My specialty is pen and ink, pencil and colored pencil drawings but I have been experimenting in other mediums.
I try to challenge myself with every piece I do. I don't have any meaning behind my work, I do it because it helps me to relieve stress, it relaxes me and it gives me a sense of peacefulness.
I do my work from photographs, some I have taken myself and some I find going through art books and magazines.
I started doing greeting cards a couple of years ago. I only do Christmas cards and I do a combination of different mediums, watercolor, pen and ink, colored pencil and acrylics. I just added my first "adult themed" greeting card with more to come.
You may notice, the dates on my pieces are from 2005 - later. I stopped drawing from 2000-2005 for personal reasons. When I decided to make my move to Florida, I sold all of my work and donated what I could not sell. When I moved here I started from scratch. I really missed drawing and felt it was time to get back into it again. In 2007 I took some time off and started a "medical billing/coding course" but soon realized that was not for me, so I switched to a "small business owner" course in which I just completed. I am back to drawing and selling my work again and I hope to have a small business of my own one day, something art related. I was given this gift for a reason and I would like to do something special with it. My dream business is to either open a gallery/store or start a mail order catalog business selling art that inspires women, whether it be through paintings, jewelry, pottery, clothing etc. I want my business to focus on women because to me, women should be celebrated everyday, not just one month a year. It is a woman's work, a woman's spirit, a woman's thought and energy that built the world we live in. I was inspired by a book I read called "Dream Big, Finding the Courage to Follow Your Dreams and Laugh at Your Nightmares by Lisa Hammond. Her vision of life and business is what set me off to think about the kind of person I want to be and the kind of business I want to have. To be able to sell my work and the works of other women around the country and to be able to give back to my community through donations of our sales, I think would be pretty great. I want and hope that what I do in the future will be that, inspiring to all women.
I will also be donating 10% of what I sell with Boundlessgallery.com to a foundation called "The Joyful Heart Foundation". It was started in 2004 by actress Mariska Hargitay. Their mission is "to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual abuse, child abuse and domestic violence." They offer a variety of different programs to help victims in their healing process. For more information visit: www.thejoyfulheartfoundation.org.
In the near future I will be selling custom made women's t-shirts in varies styles, colors and sizes. These t's will I hope be inspiring and motivational for every woman out there. You will be able to find them in the "fiber art" category, so look for them very soon.
I am very happy to be a part of the Boundlessgallery family, and I look forward to creating more pieces to sell and I look forward to doing some custom work as well. [
