I was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 1, 1970 and grew up throughout the south, the middle child of three sisters. Always drawn to creative endeavors I fondly recall my mother painting beautiful landscapes and the distinct smell of oil and paint thinner. I kept myself busy drawing, painting, sculpting with play-doh & making silly audio and video tapes.
I studied journalism & photography at the University of Georgia and worked at the school newspaper. As an art minor I took as many art classes as I could, including a color theory class- my first and only formal introduction to painting. In this class my professor got upset with me because I painted a cat pink and that quickly turned me off of the idea of formally studying art.
After college I worked many odd jobs and suddenly became obsessed with painting. I was spending all my extra money on brushes and paint and painting on anything and everything that I could find. At this point I found a 9 to 5 job as an artist's assistant which taught me the basics of painting and allowed me to practice this new passion of mine. I kept working nights and weekends to develop a unique style of my own. After three years I began showing successfully in galleries and have been a self-employed artist for about 12 years now. I've had one person shows in New York and L.A., but mostly exhibit in the south- especially in Atlanta, GA, where I live.
I simply love painting and being an artist. My goals include evolving my artwork in every way I can, constantly growing and improving, staying open to all possibilities, believing in the good in this life and others and helping to make this world a better place. [
