An accomplished and internationally awarded pastel artist, Jan Maitland was drawn toward gilded glass painting during a visit to master glass artist Marco Toso Borella, in Murano, Italy. "I was inspired by his work on gilded glass and application of Gustav Klimt motifs. I knew immediately that I had to explore this exciting medium".
Jan's own glass art style has evolved and incorporates the use of gold, copper and silver leaf, enamel paint, glass paint, reverse painting and gilding (verre eglomise) with fanciful millefiori bead accents. Clients have been immediately drawn to her unique "Wall Jewelry", table tops and room accent pieces.
In addition to Jan's signature memberships in other professional art societies, she is also a member of the Society of Gilders and has studied gilding techniques with Frances Binnington in San Francisco.
