Handicapped watercolor painter and photographer Alan Casey creates original landscape and nature images for decorating homes, offices and corporate facilities. Although handicapped, his passion for watercolor painting and photography would not be limited by his affliction. Alan runs his Marietta, Georgia painting and photography studio, producing beautiful décor images and photographing commercial assignments. His commercial clients include such companies as the Bank of America, Nabisco Foods, Road & Track Magazine, Guide To Georgia Magazine and Fox Television, who has selected Alan’s photographs to use as set decorations for the hit television show “Prison Break”.
Artist’s Statement
Unlike many others, I never set out purposefully to become an artist: it is something that just happened to me in my pursuits of self-fulfillment through photography and painting.
“Rise early and seize each day, follow without question where God leads, learn much and use this knowledge well, spend time with those you love, never abuse your pets, use logic to fight the irrational for it is everywhere, defend the environment and nature, meld mind and heart for greatest creativity, follow your dreams and always do your best."
With these overall convictions as a basic template, my artistic vision is to create images that reveal the exquisite beauty of God’s hand all around us. I am compelled to capture the natural environment in the form of landscapes and nature, striving to create soothing images of simplicity and serenity. Choosing to portray simpler times, something familiar, closer to home, with uniqueness in the paths I follow that have been there all the while, waiting to be traveled by a roamer such as myself.
I am partial to making images that are in contrast to our fast-paced everyday life, images without need for the wacky, strange and bizarre. Decent images inspired by simple pleasures. To this end, I have dedicated my talents and energies that one may gain comfort, calmness and peace. While I occasionally teach workshops, I consider myself always a student, not an authority. The more I learn and understand, the more I’m humbled to what I see can be achieved. [
