Art is never simply a depiction or reflection of reality. Since all life is an abstraction or distortion of a higher truth it is the artist's responsibility to interpret that truth and not just copy what he sees. Authentic art, like life itself, is turbulent, multi-layered, mysterious and challenging. Authentic art is enthusiastic—full of spirit and creates itself out of nothing. It is an imitation of what God does when he blows upon the waters and creates life. Each authentic work of art truly does have the soul of the Creator within it. When I paint or sculpt I may have a preconceived notion of what I want to create, but within moments the work takes on a life of its own and begins to create itself. My best works are those that evolve and change as I work with them. The failures are those in which I force my preconceived notion to the very end. It's at that point that I destroy what has been done and start over.

The sale of my artwork is used to raise funds for research and services that help people with neurodegenerative brain diseases such as PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy) and CBD (corticobasal degeneration). The charitable organization of which I am President-CEO is called CurePSP and our program designed to help raise funds through the sale of art is called Art2Cure. I am donating my art work to CurePSP and proceeds from the sales will directly benefit the programs and services of CurePSP such as research to find a cure, outreach and support for families affected by these diseases, and education for healthcare professionals.
