I love the messy details of nature. Instead of seeking out grand vistas, I prefer to explore the natural world I find at my fingertips: the fallen leaf that catches my eye, or the maple seed I toss in the air. This is nature that I can relate to. I'm especially drawn to the neglected and overlooked parts of nature, the fallen, broken and decayed objects that you normally step on or rake out of the way. By paying attention to the obscure beauty in these humble, discarded objects, I hope to come to a better understanding of my own role as an organism in this world.
