My name is Linda Carol Nelson. I live in Merriam, Kansas, USA. I have had more than a few extremely excellent teachers in art so I cannot claim to be self-taught, although I did not attend a formal art institution.
My interest in people as individuals has a great deal to do with my paintings, as each person who sees my paintings usually responds particularly to one of them, which is fascinating to me.
I paint in oils and alkyds, sometimes over acrylic. I use canvas or hardboard as the surface. I experiment with different methods pretty freely. I work on many paintings concurrently, putting one aside when I just need to use a totally different color for awhile, or when I haven't decided what to do next, or don't have time just then to do it. Then an hour or days or even years later I pick it up again.
This past year (2006) I finished the illustrations for the book Dragon Moon Rising, by Daniel O'Connor. This project included the bookcover, the frontispiece, a map, and 15 pencil drawings (one for each of the chapter illustrations). I am showing here on Boundless Gallery some of the artwork from the book, as well as some of the artwork done for future books in the series.
I personally make giclee prints of all of my paintings and drawings. In order to do this, I photograph the artwork (or scan it if that gets a more accurate reproduction) and then print it myself on my printer. I control every aspect of the quality. I sign each print.
I am happy to answer any questions about my paintings or drawings, and provide additional photographs if needed. In some cases the prints are available in custom sizes.
Thank you for taking the time to view my artwork!
