Art has been the theme that has guided my life as long as I can remember. My inspirations came from hardships, and the relationships I have created and destroyed. I was born and raised in a small steel town in the outskirts of Pittsburgh. I have recently realized its influence on me through my art. In 1988, I attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and although I loved it and did very well, the need to roam and have experiences drew me away. After a few years away from it, and after moving 1500 miles away, I rarely thought about art. I had a family and started a decking business with my husband. One afternoon, while my teenage daughter’s friends were around discussing college options, someone brought up the Art Institute of Atlanta. That was all it took, I began drawing and painting day and night, it was as if I had never left. So now I attend the Art Institute and with my wonderful husbands support, I paint until my hands ache.
I love to paint with oil, occasionally acrylics, and I do murals. Abstract is my specialty, and emotive paintings are my favorite. I love working with large museum quality canvas.
My work is created mainly to evoke feeling and emotion. I love doing commissions, custom work challenges me to get into another persons thoughts, nothing makes me happier than to think something I created made someone feel enough o hang it in their home.
