My personal definition of ART is: any idea, concept, object, or general expression that was born from the mind of the artist into existence. I think there is an artist in everyone. Because of our uniqueness as individuals it is impossible not to have an original idea. Now, if only people would stop dismissing their ideas as silly, pointless, crazy, weird or dumb then we'd have alot more creativity in the world.

I have many artists in my family including my Grandfather the late Joseph Schwarting who was a full time artist with works currently in the custody of Houston museums. I've had an intrest in art for as long as I can remember. It was such a part of me that I almost didn't notice it as a talent or special gift and might have even missed taking it seriously enough to start paintng full time. Luckily the desire to create became so overwhelming that it could not be ignored. I have limited formal training in art and plan to persue my art education in the near future. Many of my pieces hang in private collections all over the US, from NY to L.A. and also in Dublin Ireland, New Zealand and Japan. From the moment I picked up a brush I've sold nearly every completed work and have no plans to stop but only to grow in ablity and recognition.
More than any other style, I love abstract art. I love colors, patterns and texture. Although realism is beautiful, I find that I enjoy the REAL thing more than a painted version. The thing that is exciting to me about abstract art is that it is entirely created by the artist, it is not something that is found in nature and then duplicated. While realism clearly requires alot of talent that I have immense respect for, the subject isn't an original design. It excites me to view something that is a tangible expression of the mind, soul, and emotions of an idividual, that wouldn't have otherwise existed.
