RELY TAPNIO is a self-taught artist. Through his experience for several years he has come to reach the summit of his own style in painting. He uses mostly acrylic paints and some of his artworks have layered glazing on textured canvas to complete an extra ordinary finish that is commonly mistaken for oils. His favorite subjects are mostly animals from underwater marine life to flora and fauna of the virgin rain forest, exotic birds, butterflies and animals in the wilderness. Rely believe that the work of every artist is an evolution in progress; he have painted abstract and human portraiture figure for a long time. His previous works are mostly in radical forms and colors. His current works were more playful, whimsical, and often pulled from his imagination while still developing subjects that are more subtle and more mature. Part of this change came from studying other subject such as landscape and nude paintings. For him, developing more style and technique is a never ending journey for a passionate artist who puts all of his emotions into each piece of art .
All his paintings are protected by several coats of varnish giving exceptional protection against dust, sunlight, ageing & scratches that helps and enhances the depth & color of his works, maintaining the original quality for many years.
Rely used to paint back in San Jose, California where he mostly do his artwork but for him, there is no place like home. His works are held in many private and corporate collections. He is even featured in a local newspaper for painting an outstanding work of art, featuring his famous collected flora and fauna works. He also participated in many arts shows like The Philippines Art Exhibition for a Great Cause, featuring 30 Filipino emerging artists and other group exhibits [
