I hope you enjoy my Art as much as I have enjoyed creating it. I have painted and drawn traditionally most of my life.
After God and my family my art is my passion. I am a self-taught artist that has been blessed with a talent I love to
share with others.
I grew up in the bush of Alaska with none of the modern amenities most of us take for granted. The only way to get
where I lived was by boat or float plane, there were not (and still are not) any roads. The only source of electricity
was generator. Heat was provided by wood burning stoves (there was a lot of firewood to be cut and stacked!) My
family didn't have phones or cable TV, it was roughing it at it's best!
I still enjoy going home-my parents, three brothers, sister, aunts, uncles and cousins all still live in the area-but
usually only in the warmer months! I now live in Florida and enjoy the warm weather, though I do get cold there
sometimes!! My husband and I are actually in the process of purchasing some land and building a cabin to visit
there. I hope to get lot's of inspiration for my paintings each time we venture to our little retreat in the woods.
Living in Alaska and Florida (and even Hawaii for two years) has allowed me to get close to nature in many different
ways. Alaska is all about nature and natural beauty. In Florida I have experienced tropical beauty and I enjoy scuba
diving and other outdoor activities that allow me to stay close to nature. This has allowed me to truly appreciate the
beautiful world God has blessed us with and to try to capture that beauty in my paintings.
FAMILY:
I am happily married and have an 12 year old daughter. We live on a 5 acre ranch with our three horses, dog and
cat. I draw much of my inspiration simply from looking out my studio window at the gorgeous mature oaks that adorn
our property. I think of our home as our own little slice of paradise, peaceful and abundant with wildlife and natural
beauty.
ARTIST'S WHO HAVE INSPIRED ME:
Maxfield Parrish
Michael Hague
Both of these artist's styles are very unique and completely different from one another, but their use of color and
light has always fascinated me, even from my early childhood. They have a strange quality in their art that speaks to
the artist in me.
