Quilting has been Marion’s passion since she first took needle in hand more than a decade ago. She’s become accomplished in this age-old craft that has become one of the country’s fastest growing fine art forms.
Marion’s expression of color, line, shape, proportion, and scale has become uniquely her own. She continues to hone her skills by attending symposiums in various parts of the country.
Marion has won numerous awards. Her quilts have been displayed in exhibitions across the country; the story of one of her quilts is included in a collection of American Folk Art at the Smithsonian.
Frequently she speaks on quilt history and quilting as a fine art; most recently at Chicago’s Field Museum and before
the International Women’s Assn.
Her quilt, “Piet,” was accepted in an American Quilter’s Society contest, an honor identifying her artistry among the world’s best quilters.
Marion is a life-long resident of Chicago. Before becoming a quilter she was a writer and editor for the Chicago Tribune and directed corporate communications for a large real estate firm.
