Brian is a freelance illustrator and traditionally trained fine artist, recieving his Bachelor's at Arizona State University with a specialization in drawing. He is a Christian artist who's inspiration comes from both western and eastern animation, science fiction and fantasy novels and films, and life's truths that come from both observation of others and God's word spoken through the bible.
A large majority of his fine art are large scale chalk pastel drawings. Though a lot of his art is through use of chalk pastel and charcoal, he is also quite proficient with watercolours, acrylic, inks and his favorite of all, the number two pencil. He is well trained in the human figure and uses his own hybrid of animated and gestural figures in his work. Often times his scenes are crowded and conjested environments. His major focus has been composition and the use of color and light.
"Representationalism is a great technique and shows a lot of skill, but I am in love with the gestural, implied characters and objects, and even more in love with a great composition. That's why I plan out my drawing ahead of time with sketches and blocking out the lights and darks."
Other types of the artist's works include cityscapes, surreal landscapes, still life, children's illustrations, and an occasional set of storyboards or comic books.
His illustrated and more cartoon-styled works are drawn by hand and colored in photo editing software. He has several large murals under his belt through schools, churches, and restaurants. Many of his commisions have been through word of mouth and online freelancing websites that connect buyers and sellers. Brian is an independant contractor based out of his company, BC-Studios.
He is also a faux finisher during the day. Working with decorative painting, plasters, faux bois, trompe L"eoil through a small studio that works primarily in large high end residential homes. Brian often does commision work and welcomes any new clients that are interested in the creation a custom piece. Feel free to contact the artist directly. [
