I went to Ohio State and embraced my artistic side and mechanical inclination to complete a degree a industrial design and four years later an MID from Georgia Tech. Between those dates I flew helicopters in the Marines and have worked in the Aerospace and Telecom Industries (to meanwhile support this growing occupation ;)
It wasn't until 2002, one weekend in Chicago after a birthday lunch for my father, when I entered the Kamp Gallery (located in Chicago’s Drake Hotel) that my appreciation of impressionist paintings was awoken. There off to the side, measuring only about the size of a piece of paper and surrounded by other larger, less impressive paintings, was a gem of the Parisian streets painted by Edouard Cortes in the early 20th century.
That encounter with one tiny painting ignited my interest to study Monets, Manets, Van Goghs, Degas, Caillebotte, Arntzenius at the “Met,” the Hermitage, and other museums.
Ever since then I have taken to oil painting modern cityscapes as a means to CAPTURE MOMENTS IN OUR TIMES. Moments that will display for generations to come what things looked like in the 21st century.
I plan to continue painting urban cityscapes for life. I have no cerebral psycho-babble artistic statement. Instead, I think you'll refreshingly find a guy with one unique and simple lifetime goal; an affinity to capture characteristic depictions of each particular city, and some frank anecdotes of my personal experiences at each locale.
