Hello, I'm J D Owen - glad you stopped by to visit. I've always doodled and drawn but my true love was discovered at the age of 22 in the year 1983 when my sister gave me a lot of her old paint brushes. I made a lot of paintings and found that abstracts are my favorite style. In 1994 at the advice of a friend I layed the canvas flat on the table and just started pouring on lots of paint and playing with it (finger painting). I've always doodled and drawn but my true love was discovered at the age of 22 in the year 1983 when my sister gave me a lot of her old paint brushes. I made a lot of paintings and found that abstracts are my favorite style. In 1994 at the advice of a friend I layed the canvas flat on the table and just started pouring on lots of paint and playing with it (finger painting). I discovered techniques that looked beautiful and have been developing those techniques ever since. Now, 13 years later, my art has blossomed into a variety of avenues stemming from those basic techniques. Every new painting is still a learning experience and the quality is steadily increasing with the experience gained.
If I go too long without making a painting I find myself dreaming at night of being in the studio playing with my paints. It seems I'm driven to create and must find outlet somehow. Be it playing the guitar, writing poetry or drawing on paper, when I'm not playing with my paints my mind yearns for, then increasingly demands a release of creativity.
