My budding 3 year old artist

The weather has turned fine here in Southern Illinois and my 3 year old has become a sidewalk chalk artist. Here he is putting the finishing touches on his self portrait while dressed as a pirate. His sword is in his right hand (our left), dagger in belt and he is drawing in his hook.

Hours of his time are being put into lots of different kinds of art projects. More then my other kids ever did.

I wonder if this means something or is it just a phase?

What do you think, Geek or Artist or something else? We know where the genes are pointing.

Budding artist for sure!

When I was three I was drawing on paper with brand new freshly sharpened red pencils. I didn't put anything under the paper-just laid it on a brand new footstool.

I decided to punch a bunch of holes in my masterpiece with the pencils to add some texture and effect (ha) and lo and behold, I added that same texture and effect to the brand new footstool underneath!

That "masterpiece" probably received more attention (especially from my very angry mother), than any other work of art I've done in my entire life. I had to stand in the corner after a terrible spanking.
