Shopping the Art Auction preview exhibitions

I was looking at the articles by Steven Landsburg on the Slate webpage and ran across this piece on art that I thought was interesting.

The article claims that prices for art at auction are soaring.

A business model of interest to me is going to the auction and buying work, then listing it on your web page for twice as much the next week. I guess the gallery is getting more then our commission rate off that sale?
