I dont see a post about the new "coupon" feature...so I am just going to ask.
It says that I can print up a coupon and give a code so that buyers get a discount. It says that it lowers my commission rate. It says that I will make more and my buyers will pay less. How does this work? The site doesnt explain it at all. It doesnt give an example or anything.
For example normally I sell a painting for 100.00 on Boundless and Boundless takes 25% which means I make 75.00.
Can you give me an example of how much I will make if I give a 5% discount, 10% discount, 15%, 20% and 25% respectively? I would like to know how this works so I can use it.
Does Boundless just eat my discount. In other words if I give a 20% discount, does Boundless only take 5% off the price? Thereby I would make 76.00 on this 100.00 sale instead of 75.00. If I give a 10% discount, would Boundless then only charge me 15% of what the buyers pays meaning I would make 76.50????
Thanks for your help!
Ok I found sort of an answer on the Boundless Site. It says:
You effectively lower your commission rate on BoundlessGallery.com. In other words, you make more money and the customer saves money. For example, let's say your commission rate is normally 25% and you offer a 10% coupon to a customer. If the customer buys a $100 piece, BoundlessGallery.com would pay you $75 and the customer would pay a total of $90.
***It specifically says that I will make MORE money. I understand the buyer paying less. That is straight forward. They get 10% off period. But how did I make more money?
I always pay 25% commission. I get 75.00 whether I gave the discount to them or not. This is perfectly fine. It offers something nice for the buyer, but I do not see any benefit to the seller other than a happy customer.
Maybe the MORE money is more of an abstract term meaning that I made a sale (which is more money than if I had not made a sale).
Thanks for ANY clarification.
-Sorry for the delayed responses we had some tech difficulties in switching to a team blog.-
We added the example section to help explain the system in response to your comment and we're glad you found it, and you're right anonymous your 75% remains unchanged, you only make "more" money in the sense that customers have more incentive to buy from you than they otherwise would.
Giving customers added incentive is the best way to help our artists partners increase sales. Please continue to share your thoughts, comments, and concerns.

Under this coupon system, if I gave 25% off that would cut Boundless out of the loop entirely (which I would never do)?
Your team does an awesome job for artists and I believe that Boundless deserves a cut of all of the sales made on the site.
I appreciate this approach. I will give it a try with my customers and see if any of them use the coupons.
I assume when they pay there is a prompt for them to enter their coupon code?
I want to have my ducks in a row before I start offering this to my customers.
Thanks!
Im actually not anonymous...I just am having trouble with my blogger login. It ties into Google, but when I try to log in with my google password it messes my other google accounts up.
Warm regards,
Sharon Cummings
Ok....Im not trying to beat a dead horse....I am figuring a few things out. Boundless caps the discount at 15%.
Next question: Is the "coupon code" the same as the coupon name I give it? Do I tell my customers to type in the coupon name when they get the prompt?
I was expecting the Boundless system to generate a code, but instead it just lists the coupon on the right with the coupon name. So I need to know what to tell my customers.
Do I tell them: Please enjoy 10% off your next purchase on Boundless Gallery. Select your purchase and check out as usual. The Boundless system will ask you for a coupon code. Just type in "what I choose for the coupon name" and continue. Your discount will be automatically applied.
I hate to be a fuss. But too many times things have gone horribly wrong with new things like this if I dont have it all straight in my head beforehand.
Thanks!

Sharon your comments are always welcome :)
We're working on explaining it better on the site, but it sounds like you've got it.
For 25% artists, coupon limits go up to 15%. Whatever you name your coupon is used as the "code". So, you can email your friends and customers and say;
"Here's a coupon for my work from me and boundlessgallery. Enter this 'code' at checkout for 10% off."
Does that explain it?
We'll continue adding help to the site, as we go along too :)
