Nice Article in the San Fransisco Chronicle

Web site lets shoppers try art out for size
Susan Fornoff wrote a nice piece about our popular 'View-in-a-Room' feature in Saturday's edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. We always appreicate nice press.

Hope everyone had an inspired day,

It would be nice if View-in-a-Room feature could have a couple more traditional-scaled settings. Currently there is a definite slant for large scaled settings...Not everyone lives in Lofts or large houses. Cottage scale is also around.

One more thought.......How about some colored walls that are more neutral.....soft gray, taupe, or green for example. A lot of popularity with these wall colors today.

Your suggestions are spot on Janeice, we've just been really busy and searching for good images of rooms from a straight on angle with known dimensions and acceptable decor is harder than it looks. The good thing though, is that customers are uploading their own rooms to preview pieces which is the best way to go. Your post has given me an idea though... check the main blog... :)

Luke,

I have another idea.....I just put up a piece called "Daffodil Row 2" where I show a rough photo-shop sketch outlining the concept of a commissioned size. Of course this is probably confusing the way that I did it......but perhaps there is some way to be able to show a larger size....for commission purposes. It would be a fantastic option for the commission buyer.
What do you think? Or have any other ideas for a visual?

And of course let me know if you do not want me to do this!

Janeice,
I see your piece. I understand what your trying to do but I had the advantage of reading your post. I think it might be confusing to a customer. We have a new idea for commission pieces in the works, but for now what if you simply title the piece "Commission Example: Daffodil Row 2" and then in the description say that they can purchase it at 12x16 for $150 or contact you through boundless if interested in a larger size. You could even list the piece again with different dimensions to illustrate the size without having to draw in photoshop.

Hope that is clear?

Let me know,
Best of luck,
Luke

Luke,

When you list it again as a potential commission & size (even though it does not currently exist)..Would that be a "clone"
and then listed with a longer time production?

Looks good but i noticed you have the 12 x 16 piece still listed with 24 x 36 as the dimensions.
Wouldn't want to confuse the customer.

Look for an improvement in the commission system from us in the future.
Cheers,
Luke

Janeice I also noticed your custom folder 'August SPECIALS', I think that, that is a great idea! I don't think we ever planned on them being used by artists as a way to offer deals, very creative usage on your part, bravo! (take note other artists reading this) You could also create a folder titled 'Commission Examples' as a temporary solution to your other concern...althought i know you can only display 4 folders at the moment...hmm.
Great Job!

We are definitely thinking alike today. I just corrected all... and before you mentioned it, I put up a Commission File.....although at the moment, it is only on my direct website. So as soon as you have the ability to put more files on one page, it will be easy to do.

Thanks Luke.

That would be wonderful..I really believe more and more art will be sold alongside regular galleries in the future. I am really trying to make this work along with the regular street gallerys in my area. Don't want to live in New York anymore even though I am still thinking like a designer and editor at times.

It would be great to have more folders for the extra stuff like Sales, etc...I like that idea but have all my folders in use, landscapes, seascapes, floral and wildlife right now.

PS I love all these new ideas!
