Found another review of BoundlessGallery.com

I was surfing around and found this review of Boundless by Frederick Morris. He has a nice summary of what we have been trying to do.

Isn't it amazing how much stuff is on the internet?

Shopping the Art Auction preview exhibitions

I was looking at the articles by Steven Landsburg on the Slate webpage and ran across this piece on art that I thought was interesting.

The article claims that prices for art at auction are soaring.

A business model of interest to me is going to the auction and buying work, then listing it on your web page for twice as much the next week. I guess the gallery is getting more then our commission rate off that sale?

A fun read.

Review in the Empty Easel

I don't know how many of you saw it, but there was a nice review of BoundlessGallery.com in the EmptyEasel.com webpage recently.

Cleveland Museum teams with Starbucks

Interesting blog entry about it. I must be so much easier to team with Starbucks then go out and support the local coffee houses, I almost feel sorry for the heat the museum is taking. But they really should have helped the local business people instead of Starbucks.

What do you think? Was Starbucks the right move?

The move to improve our color

We have known that our way of dealing with color is sub-par for a while, but we didn't have the time to deal with it. It is now on the front burner or at least we have a engineer working on it.

At first, the improvement will be seen in the artist administration side of the site, where we will be asking artists to select the primary and secondary colors for their works. The next step will be an improved search, based on our improved color selections.

Just a few sentences to describe what will be a large technological challenge for us, but hopefully the transition will be that simple for all of you.

Of course, your comments and suggestions are welcome.

Is it time for Artists to throw away their PC's?

A friend sent me this interesting blog entry about switching your work completely onto the internet. I notice that he doesn't include any software for doing photo manipulation, just Picasa for storing photos, that would slow me down. Clearly, gmail is a great application (assuming you don't mind Google searching all of your private messages) and the Yahoo email is right behind now.

I have switched over to a MacBook at the end of last year, and use Firefox and Thunderbird for email. After many, many years of working on PC's, developing system software (and the like) for Microsoft, it is a pleasure not to deal with the security problems of a PC. It is really nice to be optimistic you can turn your computer off everyday. Heck, the Mac just works better.

Anyone switched over to 100% internet storage yet?
