New Site Partner

One of BoundlessGallery's artist is heavily involved in the talentdatabase.com project that I've mentioned here before. We've stuck up a friendly conversation and are exploring how we can help each other's causes. Artists will notice
this banner:

on the left hand of provider pages.
BoundlessGallery will have a similar banner on their site starting next Tuesday (barring any unforseen tech problems) to coincide with the launch of some of the many new features and tools coming from our programmers.

The Boundless team is feeling pretty good right now (even with all the work were doing) it is an exciting time to be in the (online) art business.

Please feel free to share anything you like.

Be Safe Artists

In the daily wondering around the W W W, I came across this site for the first time. Pixelatedpalette.com With the recent headlines about products from China, I thought it may be timely. Safety in some form or another is always a major concern for lots of people; be it handling volatile materials while creating a masterpiece or buying art online for the first time. BoundlessGallery takes pride in providing a safe place to shop and sell art, we take it very seriously.

On a less serious note, "Why was the Mona Lisa arrested?"

The Art of Ron Mueck

If you think you've never seen Ron Mueck's work before, you're probably wrong. The Australian-born, London-based sculptor was a new name to me, but a Google search revealed that he was in the creature workshop with Jim Henson making one of my favorite childhood films, Labyrinth. ;) Use that Google search to read about his story, its a good one.

Here are some photos of his artwork from Ebaumsworld.com

Thanks go to Todd's friend Stacy K for forwarding this interesting story.
As always, feel free to share any thoughts or comments.

Busy Bees

Kinetic...the ongoing endeavors of BoundlessGallery.com.
Everyone is super busy here at the office and now that school (Southern Illinois University) has resumed, even the peaceful town (Carbondale) where our office is located is bursting with energy. The streets are much busier and the lunch crowds much thicker. The change is very palpable...
On the site...
We are enjoying seeing many of our users become friends and interact with messages and canvases. We know how wonderful and talented our members are, and its nice to see you communicating with each other. At the core of everything we do, is the goal of connecting great artists with customers looking for real, original art. We've always got a few more ideas in the pipeline, so keep your eyes open for the latest at boundless.
We'll keep on working, while you keep on creating :)

Best of luck to everybody,
Luke, and everyone at BoundlessGallery.com

The Latest Update on the Latest Upgrades at BoundlessGallery.com

*These Changes Will Be Going Up Today*

Now, after we got a healthy number of tags attached to pieces, we have updated the Art Finder. And while Mike, another of BoundlessGallery's great young programmers, was in there tinkering with the code he did some other useful modifications.
1. Tags have been added to the keyword search. Were still fine tuning our system, but its works very well now.

2. If a guest includes an artists exact name (the name displayed on their profile page) in the keyword box, the results will automatically be limited to that artist's work.

3. The changes should make it noticeably faster for most searches.

4. The results should also sort better now, meaning the most relevant pieces should be displayed first. (We've always done this, it should just be even better now:)

We've still got lots of new things coming in the days and weeks ahead, but we'd love to hear your thoughts, comments and concerns on all the new changes around the B.G.

More Major Features!

UPDATE: AUGUST 10TH 2PM

Suggestion;
Artists who have made sales, try and add customers who purchased from you as friends. You can thank them, ask them to tell others about their experience buying from you and also request they leave feedback for orders if they haven't yet. (Boundless sends multiple emails requesting customers to leave feedback, but sometimes they just don't :(.)

UPDATE: AUGUST 9TH 4PM
Okay everyone, most of the new features are up. You can now add both artists and customers as friends on Boundless. There is also really simple to use software to invite friends, family, and other artists to Boundless in the Friends section.
Try it out!

This change means that customers now have their own "My Art Pages", which by default are private until they add you as a friend. These pages will display their purchased art, "My Collections" lists and even a "Art Tour" where they can add photos or videos of their spaces. The idea being that the more artists and customers can interact, the easier it is to feel good about buying art online.

There are also new messaging features. The message canvas is now an on-the-fly public greeting system, whereas "My Messages" are private correspondence between users.

Events also get more publicity now as they are shown on customer homepages. There is an easy zip code locater too, so be sure to list all your "real world" shows, because now more people will be seeing events from the "Boundless Directory".

Please be patient as we have just added a lot of code, there are sure to be some bugs. Were working hard to make BoundlessGallery.com, THE BEST PLACE TO BUY OR SELL ART ONLINE.

Let us know your thoughts, opinions, and experiences with the new tools.

Is your room ready for the limelight?

Dear Boundless Community,
BoundlessGallery's 'View-in-a-Room' feature is a powerful tool that has helped many an art lover make their first online purchase. BoundlessGallery.com is now offering you the chance to have an impact on future visitors...
Break out your expensive but rarely used digitals cameras and submit new rooms to be used in 'View-in-a-Room', whether it's your home, office or an *image you find. We'll credit your name in the photo for every visitor to see. There are just a few important things to consider.

*You must have permission to share the image
The image needs to be from a 'straight-on' angle
The dimensions (H & W) of the room must be known
The distance from camera to wall should be fairly short
and obviously enough empty space to display the artwork

If your interested, send photos to viar@boundlessgallery.com

Here's an example;

but feel free to be creative, don't limit yourself to what you think we want, we are an art gallery after all, :)
Have fun,
Luke

Interesting Blog

Through yesterday's find, Talentspeaks.com, I came across Josh Spear , a self-titled blog about art, life, and other topics. I like a lot of the stories I skimmed there, like "Wants for Sale"

The story is about a couple who have made paintings of the items they want and are selling each piece for the actual price of the item. It might be the kind of hook, that gets them noticed. So, for $649.17 you can buy the iPhone piece, or for $1056.06 you can get my favorite of the three, "Rent Check". The guitar hero guitar is only $64.98 (they must be using full retail prices, because these can be had for less :)
Does the Boundless community having thing to say about these two? I'm not sure if their making a statement, or just trying to get some more of those easily crave-able material things...what do you think?

More Love for BoundlessGallery.com from the Online Art Community

TalentSpeaks.com and Talentdatabase.com are two new sister sites that are devoted to builinding a social network for artists. They are displaying BoundlessGallery.com on the homepage of their 'art channel' Here under the heading of 'art resources'. We appreciate their link to us and want to say thanks, publicly. Obviously, someone at their site has benefited from our services as we are one of the first companies they have endorsed, and this makes us happy. We beleive in working hard to help our artists partners, and sometimes as a result of our hard work we get unexpected benefits in the form of kind words and recommendations. Checkout their sites, they're brand new and pretty good from what I've seen. If you create a profile, bookmark BoundlessGallery's , and we'll return the favor.

Best of luck to all,
Luke
