We're kind of a big deal...

Someone thinks we're cool:
Thanks, Jacob Resneck, of CoolHunting.com

We always appreciate a little kind publicity. If you check out the article, give it a rating while your at it. And browse their site for some other cool articles.

Maybe now that our coolness has been validated, we can sit with the cheerleaders in the cafeteria ;)

Another Fun Day @ Boundless

Its gone from a record high of 92 in mid October to freezing rain in the span of a week here in southern Illinois. Yesterday during some heavy rain, we lost power to our building. We've got back-ups and our server is located elsewhere, so when the power came back on and the site was down, we we're really confused for a few minutes because the power should have no affect on the site.

Turns out the electricity didn't have anything to do with it. Pure, coincidence. We had just filled up all our server with all the information being collected for the new 'My Art Stats' which is coming soon. Don't worry, I'm told that we've already figured out a way to save the info without killing the site :)

I don't fully understand the programmers when they talk in 'code' (man that's a good one) so I can't explain it further. For those of you who watch a lot of TV, its kind of like when the blond talks to the physicists on CBS's new sitcom, 'The Big Bang Theory'.

Anyway, everything should be back to normal, but let us know if you see something strange, and I'll try and translate with the programmers.
Best of luck to all,

Digital Pumpkins. No Mess!

Someone tried to promote their product in a blog comment, and normally these just get deleted, but the commentor was pimping an 'online pumpkin carver' which caught my attention. So I checked out http://www.spookathon.com/ and everything seems legit.

It's actually pretty FUN! If you've got some little budding artists running around the house (or if you're a big kid) give it a try.

here's one of mine;

Have a great weekend!

Selling Art Online - Wall Street Journal Article

Cheers! Another big media hit for BoundlessGallery.com! In today's Wall Street Journal, BoundlessGallery.com was included in a write up, “A Work in Progress: Buying Art On the Web" by Kelly Crow. (I've been told its on page D1) We love being one of the few sites she chose to include. And, we've got some more of this media attention in the works too. Hold on tight, Boundless is speeding up,:)

Have we missed your email?

Recently, a Boundless artist contacted me with concerns because they had tried to email support and hadn't received a response. In this particular case, the artist had difficultly mailing from an outside email client to the orders@ address. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue, or is this an isolated incident?

We're very concerned about undelivered support request as our customer and artist support has always been a top priority here. We've investigated and haven't found a problem, yet. Please comment if you've had any issues reaching us.

We recommending using our email system here if you need to get in touch.

And, support@boundlessgallery.com ,if you are using a 3rd party email client.

Hope to here from you (now and whenever you need us :)

No More Excuses - Start your Blog Today

Barney Davey, author of How to Profit from the Art Print Market is someone who I've seen around the web at various art related sites, and someone with a lot of knowledge and more importantly the ability to communicate his thoughts well. He has two posts on his own blog that will give everything you need to get started. (except the will power to actually sit down and do it!)
Post 1:
Why Every Artist Needs A Blog
which leads to;
Ezinearticles.com's 'How to Create an Artist Blog'

And Post 2:
A Year of Blog Topics for Artists - No Reason to Hold Back Now
which gives you a years Worth of topics, so that you can't use the "i have nothing to write about" excuse.

Seriously, you can make the time to write once a week and there's no telling what may come from it. At the very least you can link back to your work on Boundless and write about us and you might get featured here :)

Best of luck to all,

How "Art" Works

During this morning's venture onto the 'information super highway'(remember that catchphrase?) I came across this ARTicle from Howstuffworks.com that attempts to explain how art works. At first I laughed and was slightly offended, but upon further review it was actually a very decent attempt. What do you think? Is intention the main delineation between art and accident?
And how about this quote;
"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep."
- Scott Adams

I think both are true; you intend to create art and while attempting it is often the unintended or 'mistakes' that make for the key-strokes. Just a little art-thinking in the morning.

Cheers
