BoundlessGallery.com In The News
Art from Near or Afar
If anyone asks Emily Miller-Redd what she is thankful for at this year’s Thanksgiving meal, her answer willundoubtedly contain the word internet. The internet in general, and BoundlessGallery.com in particular, has created an opportunity for the young artist to showcase, and sell, her works both locally and in places as far away as New York. Miller-Redd was born in Augusta, Ga., then lived in Front Royal, Va., but now resides in Limestone, Tenn. She cites moving from Northern Virginia to Eastern Tennessee when she was a teenager as a “culture shock.” “I felt like I was supposed to play a certain role, which was to sit with the other girls and look pretty, talk about hair and shoes, and be the butt of jokes and take it, and like it.” Emily has only positive things to say about her childhood in Virginia, however, comparing it to “butter on a warm toast.” Come on, like male chauvinists don’t exist among the comfort food in the progressive metropolis of Front Royal? Miller-Redd somehow managed to overcome her troubling time in Tennessee to become one of BoundlessGallery’s “Best Sellers.” If you don’t like what she offers now, she is also available for custom work.
BoundlessGallery itself grew out of a desire to create an active art community online; one where artists could benefit from selling their work to a broader population, and where art collectors could reach a large quantity of quality artists in one place. Several other local artists use the BoundlessGallery website, including an artist by the name of Turner (no last name—think Cher) from East Tennessee. BoundlessGallery has grown by, well, leaps and bounds, since its introduction to the online world in 2004. BoundlessGallery.com now provides a home for the work of over 1,000 artists. If you are a budding artist, despairing over your lack of proximity to New York City or Vienna, have no fear. Signing up for an account on BoundlessGallery.com is free and simple. Be warned though, they do take a hefty 25 percent commission of whatever you sell.
