Devotion to the Creative Life
Apr 28, 2006

From the time he was a child Stephen St.Claire has devoted as much of his time as possible to the pursuit of all things creative. His talents across a wide range of subjects have earned St.Claire Artist of the Month honors from BoundlessGallery.com. “Unbelievable, thank you,” exclaimed St.Claire. “I think I’ve only been with you for a month but I have sold a pretty major piece to a gentleman in California though your site. I am in galleries on the east coast, but would have never connected with a man in Southern California without your help.” St.Claire was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Los Angeles, California. As a child struggling with near-constant boredom crayons and paints became his babysitter. By the time he was in high school he had surpassed his peers when it came to art, winning numerous awards. To get himself though college Stephen got a job as a background artist at Hanna Barbera Studios working on popular Saturday morning cartoons like Scooby Doo and Captain Caveman. The job taught St.Claire to loosen up his style of illustration and to really have fun with his art because of the speed at which the backgrounds had to be painted. This lesson changed the way he approached his artwork for the rest of his life. “Basically, I see beauty in naturally occurring patterns and textures. The juxtaposition of simple randomness with complex order: that is what I see everywhere in nature and it is sometimes curious and always beautiful to me,” said St.Claire. “Fibonacci numbers and the Golden Mean are everywhere, the diving threads of order that hold everything together.” St.Claire is currently residing in Orlando with his wife and four children. Stephen donates much of his time to a creative workshop training and mentoring artists, encouraging them to sharpen their skills and to take their place in shaping world culture with their artistic abilities.
