BoundlessGallery.com Names September Artist of the Month
Sep 1, 2006

For a man who had little interest in art until he was 17-years-old Pavel Mitkov has found much success along the way to being a professional artist.

Mitkov’s worldwide success and his energetic, emotional paintings caught the attention of BoundlessGallery.com where he is currently featured as Artist of the Month.

Growing up in Sofia, Bulgaria, Mitkov was better known for getting into mischief than for artworks; once falling from his bicycle into the river in front of his friends. All of this started to change at 17 when Mitkov began drawing. A family friend came for a visit and forgot his paints and brushes. Out of curiosity Pavel took the brushes and began to paint, never looking back.

“I never even imagined becoming a painter,” said Mitkov.

Mitkov says he never thinks about what paints he is using, simply emptying a tube of paint onto his palette and starting to work on his painting. If he paints flowers they may be yellow, red, or even blue depending on what color paint is on his palette.

“For me art is not to be decided,” said Mitkov. “It is a basic emotion, you just grab the brush and you do it without thinking.”

Mitkov says the magic of painting is in the movement and in his own works he may even close his eyes before moving his brush across the canvas.

He has presented his work at exhibitions in Europe, the U.S., the Philippines, and many other locations worldwide. Now Mitkov also displays his work on the Internet to reach even more art enthusiasts with his cityscapes, flowers, gardens, and abstract art. He hopes his art inspires people to focus on the real, the authentic, and the meaningful.
