oh great...because my husband was planning something like this for me...but i was very fussy to stretch the canvas to it's best and then he thought a screw after an inch would be good...thanks Wilson, i'll let him know :)
if you can't afford kiln dried the double thick canvasses have less chance of warping which is good. cheap canvasses sometimes warp because they are not pure cotton or linen so there is different tension in the fibers. extra gesso helps but it's best to make sure that they are pure cotton/linen and primed properly.
There are those out there, and god willing one day we will be too, who only use Belgian linen, kiln dried hardwood and old holland oils (I know someone who says that you should never work with anything less, but if I want to produce more than a couple of paintings a year it's not in my ballpark - he earns 15k per painting). but until that day there are work arounds for some of the less expensive options!
