I love the idea of the coupons - even though I only occasionally use them. I'd like to ask however, if it's possible to schedule them for in advance, I would like to run a 1 day sale for my birthday- it would be better if we could select the start date and the duration rather than the end date and have them all starting automatically. is this a possibility?

has anyone else had any real success with sales and coupons? has there been any backlash from bricks and mortar galleries or collectors - I know that there is always concern over de-valuing. I'd be interested to hear other artists perspectives.

I love this idea too!
And I guess, there should be possibility to select starting and ending date! try it!
Also I noticed, that coupons sale is a good idea - it does couch people eyes and they want to buy more often, but when they are doing purchase, sometime, they just don't mention the COUPONS, so they are actually buying for the whole price :-) Or may be they just want to pay little bit more for the artist? :-)
Any way, I agree with Jennie and I hope, the coupons will work any time, but not in holidays like a Christmas only :-)

Do they use coupons on all paintings or just selected ones that you, the artist have chosen?
I have had them available and they just wanted to ignored them in favor of getting it there on time. Not because of the added expense but they REALLY wanted the timing.

I finally made my FIRST sale yesterday, and I can now join this coupon discussion. I have a coupon that takes 10% off from $200 or more of purchase, and this customer didn't use it... even though my profile page emphasized it...

Makes you wonder why you put them out there in the first place doesn't it. LOL...Oh well, that's cool. Just so they are happy.

I really think visual representation and witty title are more important than coupons. We are not selling a new brand of tooth paste.

I use coupons to attract people but more often to encourage repeat business. Of my 5 sales so far here, only one used my coupon, and I always have one up. It's more to make my customers feel appreciated - because with in-person local commissions, I definitely give my best customers (who reccommend me and get me work) a better deal. But the coupon link is a great way to drive business to BG if you sell on eBay, for example. Whenever I made a sale there, I mailed an information page about BG with my link and my coupon that month. It brought me a sale here at least. And SMALL coupons haven't been a problem with my brick-and-mortar reps.

I send coupons in my christmas cards to collectors which helps, kind of a private sale just for them. I don't think it is a good idea to do it too often, you don't want to make the collectors who payed full price annoyed or de-value your work. it can create problems with the Bricks and Mortar galleries as well...

I am beginning to think that the BG's checkout is somehow made in such a way that's easy to miss coupon.

I hope the database calculates the applicable discount without being have to enter the codes. Then the receipt to the buyer can show how much they saved. If I am offering coupons I want all buyers use them without missing them.
