Sharon, you are mistaken again, but we still love you ;)
Gary has had 3 sales, and as you guys have mentioned they are at a higher price than the average. He is represented by a gallery so the reviews are on their page.
Now, how bout we focus on some other topics like "How to use MySpace to increase sales", Sharon maybe you could start a new thread in the group and pass on some of your wisdom and experience?

I discovered his 3 sales as that was part of my "limited" research. ;)
That does lead to a question. Why not show his FB on his profile page.....where people actually would see it and click on it?
Is there a reason the FB cant be on the Gallery page and his? |

I think Gary's works are really great and with a reasonable price point for the fine art he sells. I am happy to see a photographer as artist of the month. Congrats Gary!
I don't think the 'artist of the month' has to be chosen by how much they sell, or what price they sell their work at, and to ask boundless to chose on quality… what one likes another doesn’t.
Kudos Boundless - just rec'd email updates on the new changes that are being made. The searches were very stagnant - nice to see what has been done so far and what is in the works. |

Yes, what must one do ? I have sold nearly 30 grand here.
So I suspect it's based on consistency, profile/personality,
and customer comment and outreach?
Im rather shy in the outreach part. Not to brag, it just would be nice to be artist of the month once or even twice! |

I think that anyone on Boundless Gallery should have an oppty to be artist of the month. Not everyone's art is going to appeal to everyone. As they say ... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I never say anything on these boards for many reasons ... it doesn't mean I am not "promoting myself or Boundless Gallery".
I have sold a piece from Boundless Gallery .... the buyer left no comment about thier experience or quality of work they purchased ....... I can't "make them" ... it doesn't mean that what they recieved or that I shipped the morning after the order was received was bad business or the quality of work was poor.
From what I have seen ... there are about 10 people on this site that would be happy to be AOTM every month .... win every contest ...... an think they have the "right" to say someone is "deserving" to be the AOTM.
It is sad to see that someone is "astonished by the choice of AOTM" WOW ......... I truely hope that the current ATOM doesn't see your comment. |

A polling would go a long way having an unanimous and distinct artist of the month:) |

Sherry, I believe your comment was referred to me, I didn't post mine this month, and I wasn't talking about this month's AOTM. It was simply my opinion at the time, and I am entitled to mine. Like you say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and I'm sure some people find my own work appalling, or at least very unutractive. Art is a very subjective thing, but there is such a thing as art critique, it is based on some sort of artistic education. You may think something is beautiful, and I may disagree with you, we are both entitled to our own opinion. I didn't bash that particular artist, I just questioned the criteria for choosing him, he didn't seem very active on the site or successful in sales here, nor did his work seemed very different than many other photographers who are a lot more active here than him. I was corrected, and it turns out he did have some big sales here under his gallery account. That was a sufficient explanation for me, since there is no juried decision or other criteria for choosing AOTM, it's mostly based on sales and popularity. |
